GigaNIX1000T 1. Installation. The installation of the driver and control panel is performed by using the supplied installer on the CD-ROM. Double click on the 'GigaNIX1000 Installer' icon. If there are no appropriate cards in the system, the installer window will be blank. Quit out of the installer, shut the system down, and install the appropriate hardware. 2. Control Panel. The GigaNIX1000 Control Panel is installed in the standard Control Panels location. The use of this tool permits the monitoring of the card status and selection of card initialization features. Modification of the default set up requires the knowledge of the network system. Without a detailed knowledge of the configuration and capabilities of the hubs and switches that the system may be connected to, improper configuration may cause the card to fail to achieve connection. 3. Link Negotiation. The Control Panel permits the selection of various link configurations. For link speeds of 10 Mbs and 100 Mbs, Half and Full Duplex may be selected as well. For the link speed of 1000 Mbs the link duplex state will be autonegotiated. In addition if the interface fails to bring the link up at 1000 Mbs, the interface will attempt to bring the link up at 100 Mbs and Full Duplex. For 1000 Mbs speeds Cateogry 5 cable with 4 pairs is required. Use of cabling which does not meet 1000 Mbs specifications may result in reduced speeds being negotiated in autonegotionation mode, or not bringing up the link at all in non-autonegotiation mode. 4. Release. Initial release 2.3.0.
