GX5-424W
Setting up a network to connect 28 network devices is easy with the powerful FriendlyNET GX5-424W. Just plug in the network connections and you’ll be up and running within minutes.
Gigabit Performance with Unmatched Flexibility
With two dozen legacy computers running 10/100 Fast Ethernet, the GX5 is the switch you’ll want. As file sizes increase to many megabytes (MB), you’ll appreciate how easily you can add newer Gigabit-equipped workstations, servers and backbone uplinks. At the heart of the GX5 is a sophisticated chipset that forms an impressive 12.8 Gbps wire-speed switch fabric.
The versatile GX5 uses its on-board CPU to take the complexity out of configuring a workgroup. Using any popular web browser, you’re only a few clicks of your mouse away from enabling high-end services, like trunking, mirroring, virtual LANs (VLANs) and quality of service (QoS).

Gigabit Speeds with No Compromises
Does Gigabit Ethernet run better over copper or fiber cables? With this GX5, you have 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports to run 2 of each media types simultaneously. For short distances (up to 100 meters), the dual 10/100/1000BaseT ports are the least expensive route to Gigabit speeds. Trunk the two 1000BaseT ports together for even more throughput and reliability. For longer distances with greater security, add fiber modules (sold separately).
- Trunking. Combine two 1000BaseT links to form an aggregate total of 2000 Mbps (or 4000 Mbps, full duplex)
- Dual SFP Mini-GBIC. Add fiber modules for 1000BaseSX, 1000BaseLX or even 1000BaseLZ connections
- Auto-Uplink™. The switch can automatically detect and correct for common wiring errors, including crossover (MDI/MDIX) on all 10/100 and 10/100/1000 ports
Advanced Features
As Asante’s most potent FriendlyNET workgroup switch, the GX5 is powerful enough to handle the needs of a growing organization.
- Smart. All features are accessible from an easy-to-use interface. No cryptic command line commands or third-party network management applications required
- Mirroring. With a network analyzer (sold separately), look at traffic on other ports; it’s ideal for troubleshooting
- Virtual LANs (VLANs). Improve overall network performance, manageability and security by limiting organizing computers and peripherals into logical workgroups. Data is delivered only to the intended recipients while broadcast frames are sent only to members of the VLAN (limiting broadcast domain)
- Quality of Service (QoS). Efficiently control network resources by classifying traffic and prioritizing flow
